how to be a sick person, according to me.

Hi friends!

This week, I was sick for a couple of days and had to stay home from work. Which, is something that I've had to learn how to do in recent years. But, I thought I would write a little post about it.

I have five tips for sickness for you. And honestly, they may be more to remind myself to do these things the next time I'm sick than anything else. So, take it or leave it.

  • DRUGS. Figure out as quickly as possible what kind of drugs are going to suit you and your sickness best. And always try the ones that your mom suggests first. Vomiting up cough syrup is not something I want to ever do again in my lifetime... It's going to help with a speedy recovery. At least, it did with the variety of death that I somehow contracted this week.
  • Try to find someone else to make your necessities run. I made the mistake of going to Winco for myself before I had figured out my drug situation and was in delirious pain. I also made the mistake of choosing a hand basket, not a cart, so I was panting my way around Winco, just trying to get some dang Gatorade. I looked like death because I also had a fever but, really, I was in no state to have even put real clothes on. I should have called someone for help.
  • DRINK and EAT THINGS. I personally like to get Gatorade or PowerAde if you have had a fever. They help restore all those electrolytes you just sweated out with your fever. And they taste pretty good. If it's more of a stomach thing, Sprite or 7 Up is swell for helping calm things down. As far as food goes... that depends on your sickness. If it's like, a cold, then SOUP. If it's something stomach-y, then try to find something that's not going to hurt on it's way back up. My personal favorites for this are Double Noodle Soup, Saltines, and Fruit Snacks.
  • HEAT. My heated blanket was a lifesaver. I would also consider turning up the thermostat just like, 2 degrees. When you have a fever, your body is definitely going to like being too hot more than being chitter-chattering from being cold.
  • Baths. I took like three "baths" on Tuesday. Because it was the only place that my body was not in constant pain (because of the heat and the buoyancy). And by bath, I mean I just lied there in the hottest water I could get for like, an hour. And as the bath slowly started draining/getting cold, I added more hot water. But, they were great.

So there you have it. I'm not really sure what sickness I had? It was kind of flu-y, but not? I woke up and it hurt to touch my skin and I was all body aches and pain and fever. I spent much of Tuesday in bed trying to sleep but mostly just writhing in pain. It was actually probably the worst day of at least this year, if not like, the past 5 years. And then Wednesday the more traditional cold type things like coughing and stuff came. But, I'm fine now. Mostly. My lungs had some residual issues for a couple of days, but so far today, they are okay. Anyway.

All the Love.
Cheers,

All in good time.

Everything will happen eventually. All in good time. With some things, I'm perfectly content to wait patiently for it to happen to me. With others, I yearn each and every day for them to happen. Right now. I can't wait a second longer.

Unfortunately for me, the things I could wait for, are working themselves out much faster than the things I can't wait for. And while it's slightly annoying, maybe it's for the best. Maybe, for some reason, I'm not quite ready. Who knows? Only God, these days. Since I have no idea.

Things that are working out? I really know what I'm going to school for. I know what you're thinking, "I thought you already knew what you wanted to do with yourself and go to school for and do with your degree and blah blah blah." Well. I did. And don't get me wrong here, I still LOVE psychology. I still plan on keeping it part of my life. But, my new plan? It's much better. It will challenge me in ways I never thought I would let myself be challenged. And I know I'll have an aptitude for it. I know I'll be great at it. I'll definitely have to practice practice practice. Are you so ready for me to finally tell you what it is?

*drum roll please...*

Phlebotomy Technician. That's right, I'm going to become a medical vampire of sorts, as my mom has always loved calling it. But let's be real. I absolutely hate that she refers to phlebotomy and vampires in the same sentence. Beside the point... I'm really excited. Here's how it went down.

I walked to the Stake Blood Drive yesterday afternoon, in the foot-ish of snow. Luckily it's always at my building, which is only about a block away. And I went through all the little steps and such, and they all commented on how "fast my flow" was (as always). Then, the girl who was finishing me up... we were talking about my rain boots... and somehow I mentioned that I absolutely love giving blood. Like, it's literally one of my absolute favorite things to do. And she was like, "Oh my gosh, me too! That's how I started out, and I realized that it was super easy to become a phlebotomist. You should totally do it!" And I pondered on that a bit as I meandered on home. I paused to jump in a slushy puddle of melted snow because the girl convinced me that I had to be sure my boots were puddle jumping safe (they are). And I realized that I could totally do it. Even though the thought of sticking needles into people kinda, really, super freaks me out... I could get used to it. And then, think of how many lives I would be helping to save?! Mind-boggling.

Bonus? The course costs a whopping total of $528 including the test. It takes 5 weeks total. 3 hours a day. Monday-Thursday. Also, Meg is going to do it with me! Ahhhhhh! Perfection. We can learn together, study together, and practice on each other! I'm super excited, guys. SUPER. EXCITED. Meg thinks that I'll meet my future husband during the course. Maybe. We'll see. Also, we're both super excited to basically be living in our own real life Grey's Anatomy. No, it won't be exactly like the real thing. We realize that. But, if we end up working at a hospital? It'll be pretty close. Close enough to count. :)

June 3. As content as I am with where I'm at right now, it can't come fast enough. I'm so ready for this. Is it sad that I want to buy a text book or something of that sort so I can start learning it all now? I won't, but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it.

Cheers,

Gratitude, Sentiments, and Junk. (part dos)

The second installment of my gratitude posts. I'll be honest, it's coming a lot faster than I expected. It was harder than I thought to think of the first ten. I got to about six and then had to sit there and think, really hard, for quite some time. But once I started thinking about the next ten, I got on a roll and I'm already halfway through the next post! Once you make the effort to recognize your blessings, it's amazing what you'll see.

11- The Shineys. Now, most of you will have no idea what, or rather, who the Shineys are. It's an all girl group on facebook. A place where you can go to share your sorrows, triumphs, and inspriations, and know that there are 1,101 other girls out there to love and support you. Be excited with you. Be sad with you. Pray for you. And even though I don't go on there ALL the time, and I'm sure it's not nearly as big a part of my life as some of the others, I'm still grateful for it. Because when I DO go on there, I always find something that tugs my heartstrings or makes me smile. Something that reminds me that I'M NOT ALONE. Love those girls.

12- Literature/Books. I LOOOOOVE to read. Anything and everything (for the most part). I love that I can sit down and read a book and be transported into a different world, different time, different perspective. I love all the knowledge that people have been kind enough to write down for the future generations. I love all of it. Even if I hate it. Because somewhere, someone, loves it. They love it in the same way that I love the literature and books that I love. I have a few books that I love so much, that I've read and re-read them over 20 times. Okay, really, only one book. I've realized lately, that it's truly my favorite book. I've never claimed to have a favorite book because I always felt like I loved too many books. But, I always end up coming back to this book. And I love it every single time, even though I know exactly what's coming. Because what I'm going through each time I read it is different and I take away something different. I just rambled a little bit, but there you go! I'm grateful for literature.

13- My followers on the blog, and Instagram. As little as it is, I'm grateful when people like the things I post. I'm grateful that for those few minutes or seconds, I've been able to be part of their day, and hopefully bring a smile to their face. I'm grateful that they took the time to listen to me. I'm grateful because when I see the list of people who liked my picture on Instagram, I don't feel as alone in the world.

14- Other bloggers. They teach me, inspire me, relate to me. I love being able to connect to people through the internet and I love that we all encourage each other to be our best. I love reading other blogs and seeing that I can do something really small for someone else and it can change their entire day.

15-All the girls I work with. Regardless of if I like them personally, I get to learn something different from each of them. There are a few where I simply learn patience. Lots of it. Because they are just so darn ridiculous. But, I'm grateful for them.

16- My past. All the humans I've ever known, all the things I've gone through, all the places I've been, words I've said-- that's what makes me, me. If one tiny, seemingly insignificant thing changed, I could theoretically be a COMPLETELY different person. And I like who I've become. I'm grateful for every crappy day I've had, every crappy thing that's been said to me. Because they've made me stronger.

17- Lotions, chaptsticks, etc. Moisturizing products. Dry skin of any sort is AWFUL. ITCHY. PAINFUL. Chapped lips? I avoid them like the plague. Hence the Blistex Medicated Mint that is almost permanently attached to my pockets (or cleavage on the occasion that I don't have any pockets, one of the ONLY benefits of being busty). Dry skin is pretty much my mortal enemy. I hate it.

18- My British YouTube friends... who don't know I exist. I just love them. You should really get to know them. I can't remember who introduced me to DailyGrace, but they opened a can of worms. She is my favorite American YouTuber, and watching her every day lead me to fall in love with Jack from JacksGap, Alfie from PointlessBlog, Marcus from MarcusButlerTV, and Caspar Lee from dicasp. I love all of them and I just label them all as "British" because majority of them are. But, I love them. They are fantastic. You should check ALL of them out. And Subscribe to their channels. And just, love them.

19- A couple specific teachers. Namely, Mrs. Crampton and Mr. Barth. They made such an impact on my life my senior year. They brought out the best in me, always. And definitely helped me become the person I am today. I absolutely love them. I have a constant reminder of what Mrs. Crampton did for me hung in my room, my mosaic. It was a BEAST. But I did it. I completed it. And it was showcased in the senior art show. It's a physical reminder that even if I personally don't think that what I do is all that spectacular, other people can see it. And react accordingly. And Mr. Barth? He's probably one of the only teachers that I am ACTUALLY friends with. Not in a weird way, though. It's hard to explain.

20- Periods. Yeah, they hurt like HELL most of the time. Like, a million daggers coming from all sides down there. But, they are wonderful. Period=Fertility. It means you can make babies. You can create a tiny little human. You're healthy. It's the best pain there is. And I've come to realize that it's more of a blessing than most people will ever realize in their lifetime. I know this is a weird thing to be grateful for, but I am. This may not be said ever again, but I AM GRATEFUL FOR PERIODS. Also, sidenote that is related. If you're a woman, and you have a smart phone- GET A PERIOD TRACKER APP and USE IT. Know what's happening in your body. Know your cycle. Please. Please. Please! You'll thank me one day. The apps are free. But their purpose and usefulness is priceless.

Just in case you missed the first ten, those are here.

There you have it. 10 more things I'm grateful for. Once again, let me know what you're grateful for. I love seeing what makes others tick. It's eye-opening most of the time. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Cheers,

Package Deal and Temple Adventures

Yesterday, I went on an adventure with my package deal! I'm almost positive that I've explained the package deal to you before... so... I won't explain again. Danielle and I have been meaning to go to the Temple and do baptisms for FOREVER and a day. Like, we've been trying to do it for a few months and it just hasn't happened. And we finally got around to it! (I know, it's awful that it took us forever to get to the temple. I KNOW.)

As great as baptisms are, just on their own, Danielle and I wanted a change, or rather, an ADVENTURE. So we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple instead of the usual Timpanogos. Well, we didn't think to get directions there. So, naturally we just drove on the freeway until we thought we were in the right city and just drove towards the temple. Luckily, this temple is literally set on a hill above the city and it wasn't too difficult.

It was nice to go to a temple that wasn't busy. AT ALL. We literally didn't have to wait for anything (oh pause, we had to wait for about three minutes to do confirmations, but in comparison, it was nothing), and they thanked us for coming A LOT. Which caught me by surprise. I mean, they always thank you for coming, but I'm pretty sure every single person thanked us, some more than once. And there was a lot of hand shaking that I had never experienced before. It was just... it was amazing. One of the BEST temple experiences I've had. Also, they give you SOCKS to wear! Maybe it's just been that long since I've gone and everywhere does it, or they are the only ones, but Danielle and I were really excited about them. They were the no-slip grip kinds too!

We finished in record time. As in, with the drive, getting lost a little bit, and the actual time spent in the temple, it still took less time than going to Timpanogos. And then we saw super gorgeous, craftsman style homes when we were in the parking lot and we went to find them. Basically, we are moving there someday, even though we're sure that they are EXPENSIVE. I also ended up going to the bathroom in the model home/ office place. HA! It was GORGEOUS inside. Like, insanely so. And I'm sure the guy was really disappointed that that's all I wanted. Sorry! Then Danielle discovered Fish Hook Road, which we obviously had to take a picture by.

It was really windy too, by the way. :)

We decided that we were going to go to City Creek Mall, too. Since I had never been (I did A LOT of new things this weekend), and it was a BLAST. We went to Temple Square too, since we were there. Always a pleasure. We had crazy makeup put on us at Sephora (it was great since neither of us brought makeup to the temple), and we got matching bows at Forever 21 (which were $1.92 with tax, which I guessed a penny off! I also got a really cute necklace and a slouchy beanie for winter! Yay!) and ate delicious Asian food. We compared the prices of clothes between Anthropologie (really expensive) and Forever 21 (not even CLOSE to expensive, really) and we both pined and lusted after big, comfy sweaters and neither of us ended up buying any. We couldn't find our way back to the freeway and just generally got lost a lot. It was a FANTASTIC day spent with my package deal. And I absolutely loved it.

Friday night went well, for those of you who care (and even knew about it). Princess Bride was a good movie, I enjoyed it. But I think the highlight was playing the Logo Game (which is really fun guys, even if it makes me crazy because I love it when I actually know the answers). I gained two new friends, and spent time with an older new friend. And I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. :)

Oh, stawwwp it!

Seriously, guys. I'm just... completely overwhelmed and overjoyed and just... over-allthegoodemotions. I already did this on facebook, which is where all of you are coming from (as far as I know) but I feel the need to do it here too, since... y'know, I can say more words and not feel as super lame (I know it probably isn't lame at all, but I just naturally feel like a dork at almost all times). :)

This past weekend was... intense, for lack of another, probably better, word. It was such a roller coaster in my brain and I'm still feeling the effects. I feel super scatterbrained (which, there are a few people who can definitely confirm this), and just... so accomplished (which I find weird, since I didn't really DO anything).

I can't even begin to express how much it means to me that so many people were 1) so supportive 2) so willing to help me in my process (even though I really knew this was one that I really had to do by myself, as hard as it was) and 3) so supportive of my eventual choice! The announcement from the prophet about the mission age change has sent the greater LDS community into a blender of crazy (in a good way, definitely a good way) and I think it's made a lot of people take a closer look at their faith and where they are spiritually. I know it did that for me. It strengthened my relationship with my Heavenly Father SO MUCH. More than I even realized during the actual weekend.

But, my point. Thank you, thank you, thank you! To everyone who decided that MY blog post's were one of the (most likely MANY to choose from) that they checked out. I didn't really expect anyone to come read them (somehow, but I posted them on facebook, which I never do, so I don't know where that train of thought came from), and I was astonished, jaw-to-the-floor, surprised at the rising number of page views I got this weekend. I mean, honestly. I've had this blog for... somewhere around two years (I think, I could EASILY be wrong) and I had barely gotten around 350 views. And now I have just shy of 600 in two DAYS. I could barely fathom that so many people were interested in what I was saying. Interested in my life.

I'm starting to believe that I have something to say.

I'm starting to believe that maybe my words DO make sense when I vomit them onto a page through the keyboard.

I'm starting to think I'm maybe a pretty good writer.

I'm starting to realize just how many people like me as a human being.

I'm starting to feel more and more grateful for all that I have every day.

I'm starting to see God's hand in my life even more.

I'm starting to feel so undeserving for how incredibly blessed I am.

I'm starting to want to blog every second of the day.

I'm starting to feel like a grown up, and it isn't scaring the living daylights out of me anymore.

I'm starting to live the life I think I was always meant to live.

Upside down.

My whole world has been turned upside down. I don't even know what to think about our newest revelation in this morning's session of General Conference.

On one hand, I feel like a mission is a good idea. I mean, I went back to visit my favorite seminary teacher a few weeks ago, and he told me to read the chapter in his book (yeah, the man has written a book. What a stud, right?) especially for sisters. And I just kept putting it off and putting it off, until I finally just grabbed the book and headed for the bath tub (don't think I'm weird, but I do all my best reading in the tub... I'm not the only one and you know it). I devoured that chapter, and started feeling like it could be possible for me. I've never seriously considered it, but this week, it's been on the brain.

Let's rewind a few years to the night I got my Patriarchal Blessing (I'm not positive if that's a thing that you capitalize like a proper noun, but let's be honest, if it isn't, it should be). As those of you who have gotten yours know, the Patriarch generally chats a little bit with you when you first get there. I mean, he's wouldn't just bring you into his home, give you direct revelation from your Heavenly Father, and send you on your way if you're just some random that happens to live in his stake boundaries. And my Patriarch (Patriarch Peay, he's seriously the cutest, little old man ever) was just chattin' away and telling us some stories (his stories are the best, and he tells them ALL the time) and in the middle of his story, he turned to me and asked if I was going on a mission. Well, I was sixteen and it had never even crossed my mind. I could barely fathom graduating high school, much less think about what I would be doing when I was 21.

And over the years, I've had a few instances where a seminary teacher or... okay, mostly just seminary teachers, would mention something in class that would pique my attention and get me thinking about it for a little bit, but eventually it would just get crowded out with all the math, science, and stupidity of most of the subjects I took in high school (that I KNOW for sure, that I will never use. Calculus? Never. Psychologists don't need no math [or grammar, apparently ;) double negative...]).

And I'll be honest. Completely honest. Going on a mission? It FREAKS ME OUT. More than anything else. Possibly even more than spiders. Which I could encounter huge, scary, flesh eating spiders on my mission if I were to go somewhere outside the U.S. When I've thought about it after high school (so like, the past few months... ) it just sends me into a panic and I push the thought away so I don't hyperventilate and die (not that I associate going on a mission with death, even though it kind of sounds that way a little...).

I have an irrational fear of failure. And disappointing people. I can't do it. That's why I secluded myself all the time through Jr. High and High School when my family was just sitting around talking. I went down to my room and struggled through my math homework (math was obviously my worst subject, I feel like I've said it a lot in this post) or read those chapters for english, or did my chemistry homework. I COULD NOT get a low grade. The first time I failed a test in AP U.S. History, I cried. Literally cried. I lost it (granted, I was a sophomore then, and since I've found better, more healthy ways to cope with things). This goes hand in hand with the fear of disappointment. I never wanted my parents to be disappointed in my grades or ANYTHING. That's why I was such a goody two-shoes in High School. I mean, I still went out and had fun, but I kept away from hanging out with a few people because I knew my parents wouldn't approve, or at least, that's what I thought. I've given myself some room now, because somewhere along the way, I realized how unhealthy I was being about them. It could have even been in Psychology when we talked about fears and mental health and such.

Anyway, back to the mission thing. I think I'm just so scared to fail. I'm scared that I won't be able to do it. I'm scared to miss my family and my friends too much. I'm scared that I won't be enough. I'm scared that I won't make a difference. I'm scared that I'm too shy when it comes to sharing my testimony. I'm scared that my relationship with Heavenly Father isn't strong enough. I'm just plain scared.

This announcement from the prophet this morning has just sent me into crazy mode. I feel like it would be good. I feel like I COULD do some good. But, then I think back to those thoughts in the paragraph above. It just... it scares me. A lot. I KNOW it would be good for me. I KNOW that I would be great. I KNOW everything would work out and be absolutely amazing. It's just the getting there and making myself do something that I have almost no knowledge about really.

"And I'll kick her, sir."

First off, can anyone name that movie? :) Okay, back to my point...
I want to be, for once, the one someone is scared of losing. It might seem selfish, but it's true. I've spent so much energy worrying about losing the people I like, or thought I like, best in the world and I still lose them anyway. And I'm not even all too fond of the person they seem to think I am, or, more likely, the person I become when I'm around them. It's as if they have a permanent picture of who I am and what I'm like in their head, but it's who I was in like, tenth grade. It gets on my nerves a bit, I want to talk about a specific instance that this happened that has changed my life, for the better.
One night, my friend and I were talking about how our seminary graduations went (which teacher came to ours, who spoke, who was on seminary council for our stakes, etc.). When she, one of my best friends, told me that she could NEVER see me on seminary council, I knew I wasn't living right. I wasn't allowing (somehow) my spiritual side to bleed into all the facets of my life, as it should. And I get it, a little. She and I would always complain to each other about our respective responsibilities in the church, because that's what best friends are for. They are the one you go to to complain about the things that bug you. And I guess I only ever complained in front of her, and we never had any real gospel moments. Somehow, I turned into a different person inside the seminary building, and this friend obviously couldn't see that. And the fact that she couldn't see me on seminary council hurt me more than I expected it to. I never really wanted to be on seminary council, but it's not as if that was because I couldn't see myself on it. It broke my heart to hear that.
So, this summer, I've been trying to get my act together. I'm trying to be the same girl on all fronts. I'm trying to be the girl I was in seminary ALL the time. I suppose I just needed a kick in the face to get myself going; for me to realize that I had gotten pushed off course much farther than I thought somewhere along the way. I want SO badly to be the woman God intends me to be. And I don't think I'm even CLOSE right now. But that's part of why we're here, isn't it? So we can make mistakes, realize all this, and tweak ourselves until we are finally good enough to be back in His presence. {I have the biggest urge to refer to Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter right now, but I won't.} None of us are perfect yet, we all have SOMETHING to work on, big or small. And as I strive to become better, I hope that you're doing the same. There's always room for a little more good in the world.

Cheers,
Reille K. :)

Feelin' like a straight up BOSS.

So yesterday, my dad took my sister and I to my new favorite place to eat burgers (the only place I really eat burgers, mind you) SMASHBURGER. I absolutely love it and can't get over how delicious it is. I get an avacado club with sweet potato fries and it's legitimately divine. If anyone wants to win me over on a date, take me there and then we should go to Yogurtland (which is conveniently a couple doors down and also yummy) for dessert. You'll definitely get a lot of points for that combination.
Anyway! While eating, my dad asked if we were cool going to BestBuy really quick and just check out some phones and such. I was down, since I do nothing with my life right now. But we got to BestBuy and they had like twenty billion people there just in the phone section and so we decided to go to the Tmobile store that is actually a lot closer to our house. Guess what? Zero people were there! Yay! The guy there was super great and made some adjustments and junk to our plan and made it cheaper and such. My dad was like, should we just upgrade now? And me being me, I said uhhh, heck yes! So we got new phones and I am now the proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S. Wifi enabled. Smart phone with a data plan. Touch screen phone. WORD. I am still so excited about it. I freaking watched two episodes of a show in my room last night on Netflix on my phone simply because I COULD. Just in case you can't really imagine what a great thing this is, let's add some visuals, shall we? :D
Here's my old phone, I named him Titus. Isn't he a beaut? No data plan. No games. Just calling and texting. That's it.

Here's my NEW phone! It's just so pretty and touch screen-y. I'm absolutely in love with it. IN LOVE.  Samsung Galaxy S 4G.
I feel like it's very fitting for right now. I'm really starting to get into this whole growing up and being an adult thing. I mean, I got a job and start next week. I graduated high school and such. And now, I have a brand stinkin' new phone and I just can't believe I'm lucky enough to have this fancy new phone. I just love it. LOVE IT! And I feel like a straight up boss when I use it. Errytime.

In other news, all my shows are back on tonight! They all took a break last week because of the holiday. I can't wait for So You Think You Can Dance, Baby Daddy, and Melissa and Joey.
In other other news, my bishopric buddy, Jordan Casper is opening his mission call tonight and I'm really excited. I've never been to one so this is a pretty big deal for me. Jordan and I have really gotten to be pretty good friends this year and he's actually a really great kid. He's going to make an absolutely amazing missionary.

"The Unicorn Club"

Cheers to a sliiiightly controversial/political post, if it's too blunt for you well... then don't read it.

Just to preface this post, I'll let you in on a little something... I'm LDS. Otherwise known as "Mormon", a nickname that we are commonly known as because we read {and believe in} the Book of Mormon. We believe in Eternal Families {yes, being with your family and loved ones even after you die!}, and we also believe that marriage, especially of the eternal sort, is between a man and a woman. Now, we believe in [AGENCY] too, and [REPENTANCE], both of which I personally feel are a big part of what I want to say today. {I'll try not to be preach-y.}

Once upon a time, a BIG current event right now is [[Gay Marriage]]. And everyone thinks its this huge deal and it's a slippery slope and blah blah blah. Well, here's my opinion: Let them be wed! It's their life and they can make whatever choices they want to make. And guess what? It's not MY place to judge them for their choices and actions and how they want to live their life, just like they shouldn't (and probably don't) judge me for how I choose to live my life. Now, this isn't to say that I disagree with my church, because on the opposite hand of my thinking it's okay for gays and lesbians to get married, I wouldn't want them to get married in the temple. It's totally different than what they really want from the marriage thing anyway. But really? Let them be able to visit each other in the hospital. It's really not THAT big of a deal to let them do that. And all those other legal things that is really all they mostly want from the whole "marriage" deal.

Anyway. Here is a blog post that I came across on Facebook, and it's pretty amazing. It's about a man who is homosexual and also happily married. To his WIFE. I had always wondered about this, whether it ever happened, how they did it, how the wife felt, etc. And their post gave me a little insight into it and is also just a really cute story. Here it is if you'd like to also read it and be COMPLETELY amazed by their story. I think it's adorable. :) (also where the whole "Unicorn Club" thing came from. I wasn't aware that this was a thing until I read it.)

I'm Christian Unless you're Gay is also a blog post about gays and Christianity... it was controversial enough that my humanities teacher had to get approval from the principal to have us read it as an assignment, and he was SUUUPER reluctant to let it happen. Personally, I love it. I think it's not just about gays and how we treat them, but about how we treat people who are simply DIFFERENT than we are.

The first of many endings. And super fun nights. And other things.

Yesterday was my last day of real High School.
It was slightly depressing, just because it's the unofficial end of an era.
After this weekend it's all senior activities and finals and things.
You know, it's CRAZY.
And it's also, WEIRD.

Ooh, another thing to talk about...
Last night.
My friends and I went to see "This means War". It was just as delightful as I expected it to be. We decided to go to Target and check out the remodel, which was also delightful. We walked all around the store and had a generally good time. We didn't know where to go next so we went for a cruise. We ended up at Lindon Park and we were GOING to hang out there for a bit, buuuut, as we were pulling up there was a super creepy homeless guy smoking and we drove away screaming a little bit.

We then tried to find Discovery Park. We found it, buuuuut, it was super creepy at night too. The PG cemetery is on the way there and my friends thought it would be fun to walk through it at night. Weirdos. :) We found out that Jane was unbusy and decided to creep on her. We accidentally scared the crap out of her parents and drove away and such and went to Bonneville Park. [holy fetch, there are a lot of parks in this story.] Chels decided it would be hilarious to drive "out of sight" when Amanda and I were in the bathroom. Too bad for her she didn't drive far enough that we couldn't see her and we sneaked up on them and TOTALLY scared her. HA! It was one of the best moments of the night. :) We then went back to Jane's and picked her up... Hopefully her parents weren't too upset with us!

Chelsea then drove us to Provo because there was something she wanted to show us. She wouldn't tell us WHAT it was. Or really WHERE it was. We then got kinda lost and witnessed the Police interrogating a super drunk guy. Like, too drunk to stand up. And we finally found it. A GIANT Christus Statue in someone's front yard. Chels tells us that it's generally lit up and even more weird. WOW. Also, in the entire amount of time we were in Provo, we saw 7 or 8 people pulled over. Woah. A lot of people were super unlucky or really stupid last night.

All in all, it was a lot of fun. And a good change from our usual, sitting at someone's house and watching a movie. With the occasional hot tubbing. :)

GOOD TIMES. :)

Also, last day of Seminary on Thursday. It was super sad and we just had Testimony meeting. Which was absolutely amazing. Loooooved it! I totally cried. I started crying even before I got up there, LAME. But everyone said they super loved my testimony and such, which was nice to hear. I'm glad that my little testimony, my nugget of knowledge about the gospel, is inspiring to people. :D

Also, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE STARTS ON THURSDAY! I CAN'T WAIT! AHHHHHHHHHH!

Also [last also. :)] Felice and Nate are coming. THIS WEEK! I'm super duper excited. Like, borderline crazy, excited. It will be grand! YAY!

Okay, I'm done now.

Directioners, Morp, and Gratitude. (and congratulatory remarks and books)

I don't mean to disrespect. At all. But I just have one word to say. DIRECTIONERS.

You can like One Direction without having to be a so-called "Directioner". You can like them for their music and not their attractiveness, personalities, et cetera. Just because someone isn't totally obsessed with them, doesn't mean they can't enjoy their music, which is their main purpose in the first place. I mean honestly, people. Don't be hatin' and pretentious because someone doesn't know how to pronounce "Louis" correctly. I mean, I'm a pretty pretentious person and it bugs me when people freak out because of that. Then again, I'm really trying to work on it.

I have NOTHING against Directioners, as I am one myself. But it really annoys me when people are super... hipster... about boy bands and stuff. It's like, really? They WANT to have a billion screaming fans, that's why they got into this business. So don't freak out because other people like them. Just take a chill pill. Relax. It's JUST a band. Think of it this way, you now have something in common with these people. A conversation topic. You just may surprise yourself if you give them a chance. They could be a future best friend. I mean really, my first conversation with one of my best friends started with me saying, "Don't you dare give me swine flu, or I'll blame you for the rest of your life and mine." And in that conversation he determined that I was gangster because I went to Orem Jr. and so on and so forth. The point is, I can't imagine my life without him now.

Also, I once upon a time mentioned asking this attractive boy to Morp, found out today that he has already been asked. Blast-Ended Skrewt. I guess it's on to Plan B! Or rather... Plan C, since the boy I'm now asking's name starts with a C. Heh. Yeah, the joke was super lame. Don't worry, I know.

OH! And, once upon a time, well, my last post upon a time, I noticed that more people are starting to read my blog AFTER I wrote a post that I didn't expect to ever be read. HA! That was a silly mistake. But, I kept it really vague, so I guess it's not a big deal. But anyway, my point of this paragraph is THANKS. Thanks for reading my blog and making me feel like an interesting person. Thanks for silently motivating me to be a better blogger. And most of all, thanks for taking time out of your busy life to listen... read my ramblings about the things that I care about. :) I hope all of you have a FANTASTIC day.

xoxo, Reille K. :)

P.S. My really good friend, well, I guess the better term would probably be one of my best friends from childhood that I still try to make the effort to sometimes stay in contact with.... anyway, he's the Student Body President at Mountain View next year! And I am super proud of him! I know he'll more than likely never see this, but still. I'm really happy for him, and you should be too. :)

P.P.S. My old seminary teacher wrote a book. I have yet to read it quite yet, but I'm still going to guarantee that it's going to be amazing. It's called... "Bring the World His Truth" by: Matthew B. Christiansen. You can get it at Seagull Book and it's brown and has a globe on the cover with gold letters. For reals, I can't wait to go buy it. I just have to get some moolah first. And he said he would sign mine and I'm really really excited. Really. Once I get around to the purchasing and reading of the book, I'll let you know how much I ended up liking it. :)

P.P.P.S. I'm reading this book called "Divergent" by Veronica Roth and I absolutely love it. I started it... yesterday? and I'm already almost done with the book. I don't have to wait TOO long for the next book, since I believe it comes out at the beginning of May, but even just those few weeks... or days, I guess. They will be torturous. :)

Oh the crazy life.

So, school started and man! Life has been going non-stop. I decided that today I needed a nap and definitely needed to blog. So here it is!

Senior year. Oh my heck, terrified much? Scares the poop outta me, to be perfectly honest. Classes= pretty hard. Homework= everyday of my life! Social life= still there, better than the summer, but sometimes I still feel like this... "Social life? What's that?" I don't want this year to end, because then I have to grow up and move on. I know this is what I've been waiting oh so patiently to happen, but I don't want to anymore. Now that I know more accurately about what happens and I can imagine some consequences, High school seems pretty good to me. That said, I can't wait to get out into the real world and be part of it, experience it, love it.

Anyways, I really should stop blogging and get on to my homework! Calculus awaits!

Au revoir!

crazy day.

I know, I know. I already posted today, but there have been some events that can't go unblogged about.
First, SYTYCD Finale tonight! Melanie won! I've loved her since the very beginning and I was incredibly excited for her. She is fantastic.
Second, I talked to my brother for a bit, who lives in North Dakota. He has lived out of state since... about May-ish? Possibly even June... but that seems like it hasn't been as long as it seems! haha. Either way, he was in Wyoming for a spell and that wasn't too bad, since he was only a few hours away and we still saw him (and his wife, Dana) every couple of weeks. No big deal. THEN, he moved to good ole Ray, ND (which is the middle of no where) and I haven't seen him in FOREVER. He now lives... 13 hours away? Something of that magnitude. He lives HALF A DAY AWAY. And I didn't realize how much I missed him until I talked to him on the phone. Oh my cheese. I did NOT like that feeling. Although, it reminded me of a few little things:
*My brother genuinely (sp?) cares for me and my well being.
*My family is getting older. And that makes me kinda sad.
*He only wants whats best for me.
*Even though my brother is stubborn and smacks me around, I love him to bits.
*I can't wait until he moves back to Utah.
*If it so happens, I can't wait to spend all of next summer with him and his wife and their puppy, Fritz.
{Here's a picture of him. He's a bit bigger now, but I've always loved this picture. :)}
He's a cutie! Annoying at times, but so cute that you forget about that stuff. And he loves to cuddle!

Next, I was going to take my grandma and my sister to their homes when my grandma discovers she has lost her keys. She and my momma had gone to a viewing earlier and she thinks that is the location of the lost keys. At this point, it's like... 9 PM ish. But she calls the Walker Sanderson Mortuary people and they agree to meet us over there to look for the keys. We hussle on over there and they let us in and my grandma retraces her steps and such, and we see the dead guy still in the viewing room in his casket... it was a little on the creepy side, simply because I wasn't expecting that in the least and it was just a smidge awkward. Anyways! My sister goes back out to look in the car and junk. The mortuary man goes to look in the office. And my grandma and I just sorta chill in the hallway as I try not to think about the dead person who is only about 100 feet to my right. Then, my grandma starts feeling around her pockets and stuff and realizes that her keys had fallen into her pants and gotten stuck there! Her keys were with her thee ENTIRE TIME. And we made the mortuary guy come and let us in and everything. She, of course, starts laughing like a crazy lady, and thanks the man for coming down at that hour and junk and we make our way to the car. It was crazy sauce. Sooo soooo funny. It was so great.

Then, we had a discussion about how my cousin's husband is a mortician and what they do and stuff. And how it takes a certain type of person to be able to do that. And then we discussed cremation vs. preservation/burial. I still have a few questions about it, but I gotta save those questions for some select people. ;)

Then, I came home and got a popsicle and brought it down to my room with me. I was going to let it thaw a smidge so it was more enjoyable. But then... I started blog stalking people I don't know and I COMPLETELY forgot about my poor astro pop. And it was super melty. I tried to open the top and eat it like an otter pop, but then it started leaking out the bottom and was an awkward mess. It actually got on my blanket, but I licked it off. Gross, I know. But it was an ASTRO POP for heaven's sake! And I was already having to throw away the most-ness of it. It was quite the depressing moment. But! then I realized that I have yet to furnish my new night stand with it's own bottle of yummy hand sanitizer and I picked my bottle of "bat bite apple" pocketbac from last fall and tried it out. Mmmm, good choice. :)

Wells, since it's approximately 12:53 AM and I am going to LAGOOOOOON with the 'rents tomorrow, I better get some sleep. :) So they don't think I'm so incredibly lazy... I just stay up later than the rest of the world! ... than the rest of the Orem/Provo area. :)
P.S. [They want to combine Orem and Provo since Provo isn't "big enough" and I think that if they do that, the new name should be "PROM". Clever, right? HA, not in the least. I just made that up in my little sleepy brain.]

Either way, Good night! Sweet Dreams! Don't let the bed bugs bite! (don't be fooled, bed bugs are legitimate and very real)   :)

I copy Ruth, who copied a girl named Meg.

So, there is this lovely lady named Ruth, here's her blog-->chapped lips and chapstick and I'm stealing this from her. I've also seen this done as a ten day challenge, but it seems like a lot more work to stretch it out over ten days. Plus! I definitely won't remember to do it everyday. Therefore, single post!

Ten things I wish I could say to ten different people:
1. I wish we were as close now as we were when we were younger. Then my life would be magical.
2. I can't even imagine my life without you, how can you be that far away? It seems impossible.
3. Sometimes you really bug. Just sayin'.
4. I have thought you were incredibly attractive since the first time I saw you. That's all.
5. I think you're SOOO insanely funny and I feel privileged to be one of the close friends.
6. [This is for Robert Roldan, I'm not ashamed] You sir, are so amazing. Have you seen yourself dance? Oh my! I can't take my eyes off you! If I could spend an entire day with you, my life would be complete.
7. I wish we were still friends. I still think about you guys ALL the time. All the time.
8. I hate that I screwed that up so badly. Worst.
9. Sometimes I just don't understand how you can be like that. But, I love you all the same.
10. I wish I could fix everything. Or at least make you see what I see.

Nine things about myself:
1.I HATE it when people touch my back. So don't.
2. I've never seen a legitimate horror/scary movie, and don't REALLY ever plan to.
3. Getting caught in rainstorms? My favorite thing.
4. I have long hair, and I never want to have short hair ever again. I hated it.
5. So You Think You Can Dance? is my all-time favorite show.
6. The Great Harbor Rescue & You Are Special will forever remind me of my childhood.
7. I LOATHE getting sunburnt.
8. I'm the youngest of four kids, but I have seven siblings. (My in-law siblings are just as much family as the blood-y's)
9. On Thanksgiving I always have to have whipped cream on my turkey. Don't say it's gross, you've never had it, have you? Try it sometime. It's yummy.

Eight ways to win my heart:
1. Serenading me with a select few songs wouldn't hurt.
2. Be my best friend.
3. Be a Gentleman
4. Encourage me to be a better person.
5. Cuddling? Always a good idea.
6. Respect the women who are already in your life. If you don't respect them, you won't respect me.
7. Kissing+Rain= Perfection.
8. Like the names that I already have picked out for my kids. And don't insult them.

Seven things that cross my mind alot:
1. I hate that I'm growing up, I still feel so inexperienced.

2. Comb my hair.
3. Lay in my bed and find a comfortable position.
4. Turn off my lights.
5. Look at the glow stars on my ceiling.
6. Replay the day and think about the next day.

Five people who mean alot (in no particular order):
1. I'm gonna lump my whole family into one...
2. Chels
3. Clayton
4. A few particular Young Women's leaders.
5. Lucas

Four things I'm wearing right now:
1. My cat socks that I bought at the dollar store.
2. My bracelet with my sun bead on it.
3. A white v-neck.
4. A bra! Always a must. haha.

Three songs that I often listen to (currently):
{Imma skip this one for now, since lately I haven't been listening to music really}

Two things I want to do before I die:
1. Get married.
2. Have babies.

One confession:
1. I don't think I'll ever be done with you. I can't make myself un-like you. It's impossible.

THEND.

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Just your average Thursday.

GUESS where I am right now? Outside. Listening to the rain and thunder. Whilst blogging. This could possibly be thee best idea of my life. I love the rain. So much, that I'm going to name my daughter after it. As well as my best friend. It's a twofer, you see. That name. But it'll be spelled Raen. The middle name is negotiable, I suppose, but I would like it to be victoria. Just because I like that name so darn much! Shall I explain a little? Because if you know me, my best friend's name is Chelsea. Well, her middle name is Rae and like I said before, I love RAIN. Therefore, smoosh two of my favorite things together into a name for someone that I'll someday see almost everyday and I get a THREE-FER out of that one single word. Awesome, right?
(Oh, in-case any of you are worried about my electricity and the rain, I'm sitting on our covered porch. No big.)

Another thing I feel like I need to blog about would be... Clayton!
He's my best man friend in the whole wide world. He's the person that is myself, but in the opposite sex form-ness. We think so much a like and we love the same things. And I love this kid to death (or really, to life, because if I loved him to death, that would just be depressing). If I could ever not grow up, I would spend my time with him. He is so accepting of all my ocd and loves when I do things for him just because. When I think about how my life would be different had I gone to MV and not Timp, I think of how I prolly would never have met him. How crazy is that?! And then I think about how in another dimension, maybe we aren't friends, and that just seems incomplete. I feel so grateful for his friendship every time we talk, and I can't believe I was that close to not meeting him. If I hadn't been such a germaphobe that one day in Chemistry, we might have never been friends. Praises for H1N1! Long live the Swine Flu! (but not really, that's just icky to want more sickness in the world).

I sometimes feel like my life is severely less exciting than the lives of those other people in the world who are my age, but I wouldn't trade the people in my life for anything. Each of us are a product of all the people around us. If I were to have not met one single person, I could have been an entirely different person myself.
